Changes to Media Units from 2008
There will be certain changes to many Media units in 2008 as well as additions to the program. This is a result of the re-structuring of the BMedia and is also a response to student forums and other forms of feedback.
The changes are:
- All 200 and 300 level Media units become 4 cps, with the exception of MAS 300 Media Internship and MAS 316 Seminar Unit, which will become 4 cps in 2009.
- Please note that this change does not alter the units' degree of difficulty or assessment procedure in any way. 4 credit points now accurately reflects the degree of difficulty of these units.
- All those units changing to 4 cps will have new unit codes. A table of the new codes appears below.
- All Screen Production units will have weekly workshops.
- All Print Production units, including script-writing units, will have 2-hour weekly workshops.
- MAS 300 Media Internship will be open to all 300 level BMedia students.
- Overseas short-course media production options are available to BMedia students. These intensive study units in TV production (Butler University, Indianapolos) and newspaper and online journalism (Columbia University, Missouri) are designed to supplement production offerings in the BMedia. They are taught in December/January and July and earn credit points towards the BMedia. Details will be announced in Media production units in first semester 2008.
